Tonight is the star studded Academy Awards. Having missed them for 20 years due to living abroad and without TV, I must admit I gather with friends to see the Red Carpet event and comment on fashion. This year I have seen most of the films and I think there have been some excellent ones with incredible performances in every category. In honor of the art form I admire greatly and the awe inspiring profession of acting, here is a portrait of Meryl Streep.

The world has lost another beacon of light with the passing of Miriam Makeba. I had the great pleasure of seeing and hearing her in a small club in Forte dei Marmi soon after the dismantling of apartheid in South Africa. The room was on fire with her energy, talent and compassion. Her music lives on, reminding us of the work she did for justice, and the work that remains to be done.

I was recently asked to do a portrait for the cover of a book about Sarah Palin by Sue Katz. It can be ordered on Amazon.com for those interested in reading it before the upcoming elections. If you would like to read more of what Sue Katz has to say about a variety of topics, check out her blog at suekatz:typepad.com

I paint with paper.
I create unique collage portraits that are as affordable as they are exceptional.
My paintings have been bought by people all over the world
Not only do I have a range of paintings for sale, I am happy to take commissions.
You can order a special, textured portrait of yourself or your loved one. Perhaps there is as historical, literary or celebrity figure you admire. Let's talk about creating something especially for you in my distinctive style.
For the past few years, I have been working on a project "Women in the World" which celebrates and honors the contributions of women in a variety of fields.
Posted are a few examples. I will be adding new images often, so please check back and feel free to comment here or at firstname.lastname@example.org
